Some Different Ideas for Thanksgiving in Las Vegas

Looking for different ideas for Thanksgiving in Las Vegas beyond football? There are many things you can do to help out in your Las Vegas communities. The holiday season is a tough time for many people. And a time when it is a huge need to have extra volunteers and donations. Here are some ideas to get you started.

Help a homeless teen to have a decent meal. It seems that the recession has hit our youths hard locally. We are seeing an average of 300 youths in drop-in centers that eat out of dumpsters, or go hungry. You can help by donating a gift card to a local grocery store or restaurant. You can drop off a card to the William Fry Drop-in Center at 4981 Shirley Street, across from Thomas and Mack. The hours of operation are Monday – Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm. If you missed today’s deadline you can still help out with food, cards, or other donations. You can also donate online here.

Black Friday store hours are also listed for those that are not die-hard shoppers waiting in line at 3am. Find the store’s special hours that you plan to shop.

Volunteer Opportunities for the Whole Family: The Holiday Season usually brings out the best in people, and they enjoy volunteering during this time. There are many opportunities to help in Las Vegas for the Holidays. You can help serve at a soup kitchen or donate funds, and food or time for the after school Backpack program. You can even help our Vets that have fallen into tough times after coming home.

DIY Volunteer Ideas: You can also volunteer in small ways that will not take up your whole Thanksgiving Day. There are several options that help your community, but have a smaller time commitment.

These are some great options for helping out during the Holiday Season. Even if this post is a bit last minute for some of the Thanksgiving ideas, you can still find many ways to help less fortunate people in your community during the Holiday Season.
