Vitalant launched the Convalescent Plasma program in Las Vegas this week creating the possibility with those still battling with the novel coronavirus.
Health officials across the country say those who have completed recovered may have immune-boosting antibodies in their plasma.
Local blood bank Vitalant launched its Convalescent Plasma program on Saturday with the donation of Dr. Parisa Khan, a recovered COVID-19 patient and a clinical pharmacist who specializes in infectious diseases at the VA Southern Nevada Healthcare System.
“As a member of the infectious disease team at the VA, I have been involved directly in developing treatment plans for our COVID-19 patients,” she reflected. “Many of our patients are in desperate need, it gives me great gratitude to help.”
