The organizers of a large retail expert conference boasting a new brand that’s dropping the mall’s mention are back in Las Vegas.Innovating Commerce Serving Communities, a brand unveiled by the International Council of Shopping Centers this week will host an expo from the Las Vegas Convention Center on December 57th.

The trade association is “bringing the industry together live and in-person on the largest deal-making floor of the year,” according to an email it sent Thursday. 

“Did someone say Vegas?” the subject line declared.The conference held in Las Vegas is known as RECon. “Signature events, including RECon, will also be renamed to match the new ICSC brand,” according to a Monday press release announcing the new name of the group. “Rebranding happens as people increasingly shop online. During the pandemic, people rarely work from home or venture out of fear of the new coronavirus, or the brick and mortar retail stores of last year’s outbreak were temporarily closed, so shifts accelerated.The Las Vegas convention industry, which was in the dark ages after last year’s pandemic, has now begun to revive.
