A section of the Las Vegas Strip will be closed overnight starting in a couple of weeks to accommodate the installation of new decorative arches.
The city of Las Vegas says overnight closures will start on Monday, Aug. 10, between Lt. Louis and Bob Stupak avenues, near The STRAT.
Las Vegas Boulevard will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night, Aug. 10-13, 23-24 and 26-27.
At all other times, there will be at least one lane open in each direction, though city officials warn that drivers should expect delays.
The closure will give crews time to install new, $6.5 million, 80-foot-tall arches to form a gateway to downtown Las Vegas.
City officials recommend using Paradise Road as a southbound alternate and Fairfield Avenue for northbound traffic.
