University Medical Center will open a new COVID-19 vaccination center at Encore Las Vegas on Monday, Jan. 18, a spokesperson for Wynn Resorts said Thursday.

The center will operate Monday through Friday and will offer hundreds of vaccinations to Nevada residents based on eligibility each day.

“The UMC COVID-19 Vaccination Center at Encore will serve as a valuable asset to our community as we work together to protect our most vulnerable populations and eventually bring an end to the COVID-19 pandemic,” UMC CEO Mason Van Houweling said.

Initially, vaccines will only be offered for people 70 or older, health care workers and first responders, as dictated by state guidelines.

The center will be located in the resort’s convention space near the self-parking garage.

“We offered Encore as a vaccination location to help facilitate vaccine distribution as quickly and efficiently as possible throughout the Las Vegas Valley,” Wynn Resorts CEO Matt Maddox said in a release. “Our partnership with UMC began with our extensive onsite employee testing program. Based upon the success of that program with UMC, we look forward to hosting this critical step in our state’s economic and health recovery.”

This site will replace UMC’s existing clinic at the Delta Point Building, with all appointments scheduled on or after Jan. 18 moving to Encore.
