Las Vegas Happenings October 2014-Besides Gambling

Las Vegas happenings in October mean it is an awesome month in Las Vegas. Fall means it may begin to cool down a bit, and there are a ton of things to see, do, and enjoy. Of course there always is plenty to do and see in Las Vegas, but aside from casinos and typical entertainment, there are many other events going on for all ages. If you want to take a walk away from the strip and see something more of Las Vegas, check out these select few events and the links to even more.

October 1-5

Las Vegas Bikefest 2014

This is a huge 4 day weekend event with thousands of bikes, bikers, vendors, and more. Craig Morgan and Kansas are titled entertainment. Also featured are free demo rides, Pawn Stars and Sons of Anarchy celeb visits, as well as many other sights, sounds, and flavors. Love bikes? Don’t miss this! Starts Thursday, Oct. 2nd-Sunday Oct. 5th.

Fright Dome at Circus Circus

One of the top 5 haunted attractions in the country every year. 6 haunted houses, 4 scare zones, 25 rides and attractions, as well as nightly live shows. Runs every weekend in October beginning Friday, Oct. 3rd. Open on Thursdays beginning Oct. 16th and on Wednesday the 29th for the final week. Tickets starting at $34.95.

October 6-12

Las Vegas Renaissance Festival

A wide assortment of food and beverage vendors will be on hand. Everything from a whole English feast, meat pies, to bangers & mash will be available. Your favorite beers & ales will be sold! Don’t forget to tip the beer wenches!  24 attractions to peak everyone’s interest.

Las Vegas Antique Arms Show

Held at the Riviera Hotel & Casino’s 95,000 square foot convention center. The company behind this show has been producing it for 52 years! If you’re going to be around that long, you’ve got to be doing something right. A show for the collector or enthusiast, you can probably find what you’re looking for here. The show will be open Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. and Sunday from 9:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M. Daily admission is $15.00, or a 2-day pass is $25.00.

October 13-19

Vegas Valley Book Festival

A “one stop shopping experience for literature” The event will be held downtown at the Clark County Library (1401 E. Flamingo Road). They are expecting more than 165 authors to be featured, including the keynote speaker, New York Times #1 best-selling author Sylvia Day.

Color Fun Fest 5K Run

This promises to be an EPIC run as you start out during the day, and as night falls, the event will be lit by the strongest black lights in the world to show off the colored powder you will be doused with during the race. Early registration is $60, or you can wait until the event and pay $75.00. Parking is $10 (they request you bring sufficient cash). The Day Run Festival is 2:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M., with the first race wave starting at 4:00 P.M. The Night Run Festival is 5:00 P.M. to 10:00 P.M., with the first race wave starting at 7:00 P.M. There will be food, drinks, and vendors for cash purchases. Wear a white shirt to become as colorful as possible, or they recommend wearing your free Color Fun Fest shirt.

October 19-31

Sports Cards & Collectibles Show

Galleria Mall (Galleria at Sunset). Open from 10:00 A.M. to 6:00 P.M. with FREE admission. You’ll find special guests there to sign autographs, sports memorabilia, comics, action figures, and more. The show will be inside Club Madrid.

The last Wine Walk of 2014

Lake Las Vegas (MAP) benefiting New Vista. Enjoy an evening of sampling up to 20 different wines as you listen to live music. Tickets in advance are $25 (tickets at the door are $30), and you must be 21 years of age to participate. The ticket price includes your wine glass, sampling ticket, and wine. The wine walk begins at 7:00 P.M. and concludes at 10:00 P.M. Tickets in advance may be purchased through New Vista’s site in advance. Your designated driver does not have to purchase a ticket.
