We’re seeing changes in so many aspects of our lives because of the coronavirus pandemic, and gaming is no exception.
Because it’s the beating heart of the Las Vegas economy, several local companies that make casino games are focused on new technology to keep gamers healthy while playing.
The odds of ever making a casino floor “germ-free” are astronomical.
However, some amazing technology is being developed right now that will offer a much safer casino environment so players can worry less about social-distancing and focus more on having fun.
“The message is important that Vegas is open. Vegas is doing what needs to be done in this era, right now, with COVID-19,” says Howard Stutz-Executive Editor CDC Gaming Report.
Stutz says its necessary so the world knows it’s safe to return to Las Vegas.
That’s why companies like Las Vegas-based “scientific games” are racing to develop new technology to minimize the spread of germs, starting with dirty, filthy cash.
We viewed a demonstration of a cashless “unified’ wallet,” based on a smartphone app that connects by Bluetooth to a slot machine.
The unified cashless wallet has been in development for about 15 years for security reasons, but the applications were in high demand as casinos looked for ways to reopen under COVID-19 guidelines.
In fact, many of the casinos on the Strip used the time while closed to install much of the technology that allowed them to reopen sooner.
