As reported by the National Association of REALTORS®. Homebuyers struggle to find a home to buy and a home they can afford.
The share of affordable and available housing for a household earning $100,000 has fallen dramatically over the past two years, NAR reports. In October, home prices rose 13% while home inventories fell 12% from a year ago, NAR reports.
“Due to lower affordability and shrinking inventories, there are 503,000 fewer resaleable homes this household can currently afford than two years ago,” said Nadia Evangeliou, Economist Senior Economist and Director of Forecasting at NAR, writes on the Association Blog. Outlook of economists.
