The Miracle Mile Shops on the Strip, that opened their doors, hope to get revenue back up while keeping everyone safe at the same time.
“We’re so thrilled that everyone’s been wanting to come back,” said Wendy Albert, senior director of marketing, for the Miracle Mile Shops.
“It gives us something to do because a lot of stuff is closed right now,” said Hunter Gieser, who is in town celebrating his 21st birthday. “So it’s pretty convenient for us.”
And mall officials are making sure everything is safe for employees and customers.
“We’re cleaning high touchpoints more often,” said Albert. “We have lots of social distancing reminders. We have hand sanitizer stations throughout the property.”
The Miracle Mile shops also have designated curbside pick-up areas, and digital access to a directory of stores and restaurants to create a no-touch experience.
Businesses like Pampas Las Vegas are also adding their own precautions, and they say it’s paying off.
Dine-in basically was our bread and butter before what happened,” said Bill Drexel, operations director for the Pampas. “And you know we normally do about 800 to a thousand people a day. So doing more than ten percent when we first opened was great.”
“We did like that when we came here there were a lot of shops open, this great restaurant,” said Keionna Thompson, who was eating with family at Pampas on Wednesday. “We were happy that we could sit in. We didn’t have to wait outside.”
The Miracle Mile Shops are temporarily open from 11 a.m. to seven p.m. seven days a week, with exception to some restaurants that have extended hours.
Also on the Strip, the Fashion Show Mall opened its doors on the first day of phase two.
General Manager Brent Gardner says foot traffic has increased every day since then.
“We reopened right before the casinos and I’m glad that we did,” said Gardner. “You know it gave us a little extra time to get back into the swing of things, get back to routines. And once the casinos started opening back up, more and more visitors were coming back to the market.
With hand sanitizer stations all around the property and more frequent deep cleaning, Gardner says they make sure shoppers feel comfortable.
And a majority of tenants are back in action, including retailer Travis Mathew.
Managers there say the next big holiday will be a big one for their store.
“Father’s day is our second biggest holiday here, for Travis Mathew especially,” said store manager Brock Badger. “It’s just- we’re ready to get those customers back in and see that big surge of people coming back in.”
Visitors say it’s important to help businesses get back on their feet.
“I’m a small business owner myself in South Carolina,” said Ebony Clayborne, who traveled to Las Vegas from South Carolina. “So it’s very important to come back out and support the businesses. We have to eat just like everybody else does.”
The Fashion Show Mall is temporarily open from 11 to seven Monday to Saturday, and 12 to six on Sundays.
Some department stores may have longer hours.
