Getting organized isn’t always an easy task and it isn’t always easy to maintain either. But these 3 tips will help you succeed in your getting organized mission!
1. Have a yard sale! It is the perfect time of year to start going through your home and thinking about if you really need or want certain things anymore. When was the last time you went through your closet? How about the kid’s toys? If you haven’t seen or used it in the last 6 months, it is time to say goodbye! Sell it at a yard sale or donate it to somebody who needs it. Either way, it is time for it to go. You will feel better when it is gone!
2. Have a place for everything. Most people waste a lot of time every day looking for things that they thought they put one place, but now can’t find it. If everything has a place, you will know where to put it away and where to find it when you need it. This requires upkeep on your part because if the items don’t get put away every time they are used, then it won’t matter that they have a home! Take 10 minutes at the end of each day and walk around your home. Take a basket with you if you have to and anything that is not where it should be and put it in the basket. Then take another walk around distributing items to their designated homes.
3. Get the family involved! Sometimes it is hard to get everybody motivated to clean and organize, but once they see the difference in your home, they will want to help keep it that way. Recruit your spouse, recruit your kids! Everybody should have a part in helping maintain the house.
I hope these tips will help you get organized, and stay that way!
